'Singh Sahab The Great' to come out on October 11

'Singh Sahab The Great' to come out on October 11

Filmmaker Anil Sharma, whose "Singh Sahab The Great" is almost ready, says the Sunny Deol starrer is slated for Oct 11 release, two days before Dussehra.

"We are ready with our film and the film is in its post production stage. I am busy with the post production. When I was editing the film, I had tears in my eyes. The film has shaped up very well and we will be releasing the film on Oct 11," Sharma told .

Sunny is the number one action hero and this film will be his comeback as an action hero.

After producing hits like "Gadar - Ek Prem Katha" and "Hero - Love Story Of A Spy" with Sunny, the director says that "Sunny is the number one action hero and 'Singh Sahab The Great' will be his comeback as an action hero. His pairing with the new girl Urvashi Rautela is looking outstanding. Every director praises his own film, but you will realise it once you see the film."

Sharma will direct two more films with Sunny.

"I can't say which film, can't reveal the genre. But it's going to be a complete entertaining film," he said.

With the re-scheduling of dates, Sunny will now clash with another Sunny at the marquee. Deol's film "Singh Sahab The Great" will release alongside Sunny Leone's "Ragini MMS 2" on October 11.

While the industry is looking forward to the clash of titans at the box office this Eid - with SRK's Chennai Express and Ekta Kapoor's sequel of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai - another film slotted for a release on the same day has quietly been shifted to a later date.

Sources say that Sunny Deol's film 'Singh Saheb The Great' was also scheduled for an early August release. However, the actor in a move that clearly shows he doesn't want to indulge in ego clashes, decided to postpone the release to October 11.

Our source says, 'It made no sense for director Anil Sharma and Sunny to hit the theatres on Eid when already two big films are fighting for theatres. While Ronnie Screwvala has already booked many screens, Ekta is also hell bent on getting her film a fair share at the box office.'

Revealed: The man who will romance Sherlyn in 'Kamasutra 3D'

Director Rupesh Paul has finalised model King Malkhan for the male lead in "Kamasutra 3D" and he will be seen romancing Sherlyn Chopra in the film.

"We are announcing the name of the male lead of the film at Cannes," Paul told, affirming that after a long process "we could finalise an actor".

"We found more than 20 actresses, who agreed to act with frontal nudity, but could not got a single male actor, who is famous, ready for the role," he added.

King Mal will be seen doing martial arts like kalarippayattu in the film.

"We had short-listed five actors in November last year and gave them specific requirements for the character. We did three-stage auditions with these actors and out of them King Malkhan was more impressive," said Paul.

"Since the movie had a lot of action sequences and martial arts like kalarippayattu, training was important. He made a lot of effort in voice training also. And he impressed me by getting rid of his six-pack to become a naga sanyasi in the movie," he added.

The film's team is in Cannes since May 15 to unveil the second trailer of their film.

Battle of the gowns: Madhuri versus Priyanka

Battle of the gowns: Madhuri versus Priyanka

The Filmfare Awards red carpet is probably the biggest gala night of Bollywood. It is also regarded as the Oscars of the Hindi film industry by many.

No wonder the industry folks - actors and actresses - plan their evening attire months in advance. After all, the fashion high and faux pas are discussed for days after the event.

Critics and fans follow their favourite stars minutely and anything lacking in their choice of dress and make-up is often highlighted a thousand times over. In some cases, actresses caught putting a wrong step on the red carpet fashion, have also been reduced to tears by their own peers. Vidya Balan is a case in point.

Let's find out who scored a fashion high and who desperately needs a style makeover.

Critics' verdict

The Chopra sisters - Priyanka and Parineeti - along with Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit-Nene were the main victims of fashion faux pas.

The likes of Sridevi, Chitrangada Singh, Urmila Matondkar and Alia Bhatt ruled the 'average Jane' category.

It is probably the Bollywood men who took the fashion cake, as they all looked dapper in their tuxedos and evening jackets.

Sridevi and Madhuri

It was interesting to watch the 40+ actresses such as Sridevi and Madhuri walk the red carpet with their husbands in cleavage-showing revealing gowns. Those who are loyal Filmfare Awards followers would recall that the same heroines in their heydays wore nothing but bright and dazzling Kanjeevarams with heavy, intricate gold jewellery.

Both Sridevi and Madhuri have come a long way in shedding the heavy weight of Kanjeevarams and temple jewellery.

While Sridevi looked passable in her Alberta Ferretti orange and gold gown with plunging neckline, Madhuri could surely have opted for some other gown than the Alberto Makali blue gown, which looked more like a prom-reject project.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone stole the show with her minimalistic look and the killer designer-couture, which she carried off with aplomb. This is quite likely her best award show appearance so far.

Ms Padukone has the right attitude, looks and the figure to pull the back dress off, even though it did show off quite a bit of her skin at an awards show - by Bollywood standards. She wore a Prabal Gurung dress.

Vidya Balan returns as the queen of fashion faux-pas

We understand that you have your wedding trousseau to show off. But, surely you could have done better than colour coordinate your sari with the 'black lady with the golden base' (special edition). The kanjeevaram worn by Vidya did nothing for her, despite her 1,000-watt smile.

Shruti Haasan has butterflies in stomach

Shruti Haasan has butterflies in stomach

Shruti Haasan may have been missing from the Bollywood scene but now she has two films --Ramaiya Vastavaiya and D-Day -- be releasing on the same day (July 19)

She says, 'The date clash just happened and I've got no choice as both the projects are equally dear to me. I will end up working for 24 hours on my films. These things just happen. I am hoping that both are equally appreciated but I already have butterflies in my stomach.' Oh dear!

Shahrukh Khan – No Politics, only Acting

Shahrukh Khan is very busy shooting for Rohit Shettys Chennai Express in Kerala, Spoke about,if he had any aspirations regarding entering politics in future ? Well S R K believes that politics is a field best left to the professionals at the same time ,the actor quickly pointed out that he doesn’t think badly of the profession but as far as he was concerned he was happy being an actor.

He further clarified,”I can’t become a politician all of a sudden. It’s a professional field and you have to educate yourself for that,I don’t I look down on politics. Kirron Kher's stepdaughter to debut as porn writer Mastram's wife

Kirron Kher's stepdaughter to debut as porn writer Mastram's wife:

Tara Alisha Berry who lost her golfer-father Gautam Berry just two months ago, is stepping into Hindi films with a very unusual debut vehicle.

Tara who was lately in the news for an unsavoury property dispute with her stepbrother Sikandar (Gautam Berry's son from his first wife Kirron Kher) will be seen as Hindi pornographic literature's resident-guru Mastram's wife in Akhilesh Jaiswal's film on the porn litterateur.

When asked about her unusual choice for a debut Tara says, 'It was the script that clinched the deal for me. I had no clue who Mastram was. But I simply fell in love with the script. The director Akhilesh Jaiswal and I connected instantly.'

Tara was not put off by the porn theme. 'The film is about a porn writer. But there is nothing lurid or sleazy about the content. I found that to be deliciously ironical. It's a film about India's most well-known porn writer. But it's porn-free.'

"Gippi" movie review

"Gippi" movie review by Dipashri Bardhan:-

A POETRY: Certainly it was embarrassing, when I first realized that I had been changing automatically & no longer be classified under 'Child' category...Some restrictions from my elders expectedly came into my way, in the form of 'to do' & 'not to do' lists, making my mind echo that poem by Cilla Henriette: "I was awakened...To a light of liberation/ It was bright but shy...I wonder why/ I was a child yesterday...But today is different/ I’m just like a clay...To be shaped or bent"..

Today, while watching 'Gippi', I was reliving a slice of my adolescence & school days...In fact, everyone (especially womenfolks) can relate to this film, since almost everybody experiences that freakish combination of discomfort-pleasure, arrogance-humiliation & jealousy-sympathy during their transition from childhood to adulthood, which kind of reflects that idea of Carol Burnett, "Adolescence is just one big walking pimple.." !! Here, let me draw a picture whether 'Gippi'-the latest presentation from Dharma Productions & UTV Motion Pictures effectively cures such pimple of juvenility or not...

A MOVIE: Based in Simla, the movie tells the story of a 14-year-old girl Gippi (Riya Vij), who is quite ordinary in terms of studies, sports & looks..At home, she faces trouble for her parents are divorced, whereas in school, she is constantly teased by an attractive & intelligent girl (hence, popular in the school campus) Shamira (Jayati Modi)...Meanwhile, she feels awkward with the hormonal changes affecting her physically & mentally, followed by a failure in her first love-story with Arjun (Taaha Shah)..What happens next forms the crux of the drama !!

'HIGH's : The movie scored really high in Cinematography (Anshuman Mahaley) + Editing (Yashashwini Y.P) + Music (Vishal-Shekhar) & Acting (full marks to Riya Vij & Divya Dutta..The supporting casts also shined in their respective roles)...The kids looked as fresh as morning dew, thereby adding the required sweetness to the show !!

'LOW's : The movie scored equally low in Screenplay (so, deccelerating the flow & increasing the predictability of the story) + Climax (lacked right intensity) + Showing Gippi dancing to Shammi Kapoor numbers looked out of place, because teenagers of today's era would normally connect to contemporary songs/heroes...Also, Shamira's meanness toward Gippi (for no reason) gets diluted in audience's mind, when Gippi does the same towards Ashish(Aditya Deshpande) & Kabir(Mrinal Chawla), without any strong provocation = All written by debutant Director Sonam Nair showed the mediocrity of her effort...

A MESSAGE (Perfection vs Imperfection): The moment Gippi learnt that ‘A beautiful thing is never perfect’ (Tagline of 'Gippi'), the movie silently delivered a subtle message regarding the pursuit of perfection & imperfection…Interestingly, this pursuit is nothing new…Let's see chronologically,
1)In Egypt (around 2500 BC) Pharaohs were considered as perfect human beings, thus worshipped in the temples as GOD.. 2) Aristotle (around 323 BC) defined ‘perfection’ as “something which is complete + has attained its purpose”… 3) During renaissance (around 16th Century), sculptors made masterpieces of perfect human body…In addition, Leonardo Da Vinci used geometry to make flawless human figure… 4) In today’s world when women pamper themselves with ‘Dior’ in their lips or ‘Gucci’ in their eyes and men indulge themselves in ‘TAG Heuer’ in their wrists or ‘Giorgio Armani’ in their wardrobes, the same conflict between perfection & imperfection whispers..

And this conflict has no end, unless one decides what is more important: Attainable happiness or unattainable satisfaction !! Since perfection has no fixed terminology, so the same thing can be viewed as perfect & imperfect by different observers...But, if you can give your best at whatever you do,without thinking of 'being perfect', then irrespective of the material outcome, achievement will surely greet you since you are the best judge to yourself...Constantly aiming for perfection gives birth to despair since it has no limit, symbolizing the thought of Vladimir Horowitz: "Perfection itself is imperfection" !! Won't you agree that luscious smiles are mostly asymmetrical/ 18 Karat gold ornament always glitters more than 22 Karat gold ornament or, a husky voice is often more alluring than a smooth voice ?

As the movie ended, an imperfect girl (Gippi) truly brightened those lines of a perfect beauty (Marilyn Monroe), “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring..." !!

An OPINION: Although having a deep message, the movie somehow failed in impactful execution...Overall, 'Gippi' is good for a one time watch only, complemented by a feel-good factor...Go & watch this Coming-of-Age flick where a small girl proves that 'Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect...It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections' (Tagline of 'Gippi')...
