The actress made her acting debut in Adiyta Chopra's 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' starring opposite Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan.
She then received critical appreciation for portraying a vivacious wedding planner in the romantic comedy 'Band Baaja Baaraat' in 2010. Both films fetched her a Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare Awards ceremony.
She finally bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Yash Chopra's romance 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' (2012).

She studied at Indian School Muscat and Indian School Salalah in Oman. Later she moved to Mumbai with her mother and attended Durelo Convent High School and later studied at Vartak College. When Dharam paaji picks up the phone to invite, no one has the heart to turn it down. In a veritable display of the goodwill he enjoys in the film industry, the music launch of Dharmendra's upcoming comic film had the who's who of Bollywood in attendance.
The guests at the event included the biggest stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan. Also present were Juhi Chawla, Ritiesh Deshmukh with wife Genelia, Subhash Ghai, Kunal Kohli, Rajiv Rai, Rahul Rawail, Rajkumar Santoshi, Ramesh Taurani and Vashu Bhagnani.
Says an onlooker, 'Usually the music launch of a film just has the cast and crew in attendance. But this event was rare. Paaji managed to get the biggest stars in attendance for his event.'
Incidentally, Dharmendra complete 53 years in the industry and this is one of the reasons why the stars decided to rally around him on his big day.
The source adds, 'All it took was one phone call from Dharam paaji. Dharamji is the most loved person in the industry. He was pleasantly surprised by the turnout at the event.'

Mallika Sherawat is at it yet again. At the launch of her television show on Monday, which will encapsulate her journey to find her Prince Charming, the sex siren fired one verbal volley after another!
Interestingly the show's first promo has a guy fainting on realising that Mallika is his wife! But we prefer to swoon with her Mallika-ism. 'I always speak my mind and speak the truth. If it becomes scandalous then it is not my fault,' she cooed.
